Terms & Conditions
1. Who we are
The Crossbill Syndicate, 3 Laraig Ghru View, Aviemore, PH22 1AR. Email: experience@crossbillsyndicate.com.
In these terms, "we" and "us" means The Crossbill Syndicate. "You" means the person or company making the booking. "Participants" means everyone attending.
2. Our programmes
-
A non refundable 50% deposit is due to confirm your booking. Your dates are not held until we receive it.
-
The remaining 50% is due 12 weeks before the programme starts.
-
If you book within 12 weeks of the start date, full payment is due at booking.
-
If the balance is not paid on time, we may treat the booking as cancelled by you.
4. Changes to group size
You may add participants up to 8 weeks before the start date, subject to availability. Reducing the group size after booking does not reduce the price unless we agree otherwise in writing.
5. If you cancel
Cancellations must be made in writing to experience@crossbillsyndicate.com. The following charges apply:
-
More than 12 weeks before the start date: you lose your deposit.
-
Between 4 and 8 weeks before: 75% of the total price.
-
Less than 4 weeks before: 100% of the total price.
We strongly recommend that participants have travel insurance that covers cancellation.
6. If we cancel or change your programme
Mountain activities depend on weather, ground conditions and safety. Our instructors may change, shorten or replace an activity on the day if they judge it unsafe to continue. This is a normal part of working in the mountains and does not entitle you to a refund.
If we need to make a major change before the programme starts, we will tell you as soon as possible and offer an alternative. If we cancel your programme for any reason other than events outside our control, you can choose a full refund or new dates.
7. Events outside our control
We are not responsible for delays, changes or cancellations caused by events outside our reasonable control. This includes severe weather, natural events, illness, travel disruption or government restrictions. Where this happens we will work with you to find new dates.
8. Health, fitness and safety
-
Participants need a moderate level of fitness and a willingness to take part.
-
You must tell us about any medical conditions, allergies, access needs or dietary requirements before the programme.
-
Participants must follow the instructions of our instructors at all times.
-
We may ask a participant to stop an activity if their behaviour or condition puts themselves or others at risk. No refund is given in this case.
-
Participants must not take part under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
9. Insurance
We hold public liability insurance. We recommend all participants have personal travel insurance covering outdoor activities and cancellation.
10. Our liability
Outdoor activities carry some risk. We manage it carefully but cannot remove it entirely. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence. We are not liable for loss or damage to personal belongings, or for indirect losses such as loss of business.
11. Photography
We may take photos during programmes. We will always ask before using any image of a participant on our website or social media.
12. Complaints
If something is not right during your programme, please tell your instructor straight away so we can put it right. If you are still unhappy, email us within 28 days of the programme ending and we will respond within 14 days.
13. Law
These terms are governed by the law of Scotland and any disputes will be dealt with by the Scottish courts.
