Outdoor safety and resilience training

No two organisations are the same. Neither are our training programmes. We build each programme around your people, your environment and the challenges you are likely to face. The aim isn't simply to teach a set of procedures, but to develop the judgement, preparation and decision-making needed when conditions are uncertain and plans don't go to plan.

What we cover

The training is grounded in real experience. Our instructors have spent years operating in environments where preparation matters, judgement counts and there is rarely a perfect answer. We don't train people to follow a script. We train them to think when the script stops working.

Planning and preparation

Most outcomes are decided before anything starts. We look at how to build plans that hold up under pressure, and just as importantly where they are likely to fail. Spotting the weak points, building in margin and asking the hard questions early, so the plan bends instead of breaking when conditions change.

Decisions and risk

Decisions rarely come with full information or enough time. We teach how to use decision frameworks and where to source the data that matters. What are foreseeable's, the risk, the hazard and how we can mitigate these in remote and demanding environments where the margin for error is small.

Skills for remote work and incident management

We teach critical skills for staying safe in wild environment's such as, kit selection, navigation, movement in rough terrain and river crossings. But, things change, and sometimes they go wrong. We look at how to respond when they do, how to call for help, managing the incident itself and leading a team through it and dealing with the aftermath.

Resilience

Resilience is not about pushing through regardless. It is staying effective when conditions turn and the work gets hard. We cover the mindset and the practical tools behind it, managing stress, holding focus and recovering well, so people keep going and keep thinking when it would be easier to do neither.

Combined with employee wellbeing

Alongside the training, we offer employee wellbeing sessions: breathwork, resilience and time in the outdoors that helps people manage pressure well. These can run as part of a training day or on their own.
